Morning Routine Pt. 2

I have officially worked with my morning routine coach, Claire, for one whole month now + have been on my own for about a month. It has honestly been full of growth and purpose for me. I’ve worked toward my personal goals in the mornings before working on the goals of others (aka my corporate job) and it’s something that I’m excited to continue. I’ve always heard that people who get up early are more successful which would cause me to become SO DEFENSIVE because…well… I was never a morning person. On the surface, it made zero sense to me because it shouldn’t matter what time you wake up, right? Unfortunately, I do understand it now. During the first month, I have had the time to start AND publish a website for my business, and start this blog. I am not the most tech savvy individual so even figuring out how to do this is ⋆ growth ⋆. Doing both of these things have been on my mind for a while now but I could never find the time or energy to take action. I normally wake up, immediately jump into work all day, go to the gym, then get home to finally chill + turn my mind off. Working on these things after a full day never seemed appealing to me. + honestly it wouldn’t have been my best work. So, the only other time I had was my mornings to get these things accomplished. I’m not saying people can’t get a lot accomplished in the evening, but I am saying that I am not one of them.

Claire and I brainstormed things that are important to me to accomplish in the morning. What is my “why”? The reasoning behind waking up earlier shouldn’t be because you feel like that’s what you should do based on what society or others tell you. You should genuinely have an idea of how waking up earlier, and accomplishing certain things will contribute to your own happiness and growth. Journaling, stretching, working on my nutrition and training business, doing my skincare routine and getting myself ready are things that I want to fill my morning and will put me in a productive mindset for my day. Side note: even though I work remotely, getting ready (changing out of my pjs, putting makeup/jewelry on) has made me feel more human and better about myself—10/10 recommend.

Another good thing to remember is that not every morning has to look the same. Claire helped me work on creating two different morning routines based on my schedule and what I wanted to accomplish. Maybe you want to work out in the morning only a couple days a week, or you work earlier on some days than others—these are some examples of situations that you could have two separate morning routines based on the day.

The accountability Claire provided for that first month was unmatched, and I know I wouldn’t have been as successful without our weekly texts and calls. She helped me to be realistic every week so that I didn’t try to do everything all at once and make this unrealistic 3-hour long overwhelming morning routine. I think its safe to say that with a lot of people when they get excited about something new, they can get ahead of themselves and quickly try to make a lot of changes rather than making one small change at a time. Enjoy the journey along the way, and enjoy the small victories and wins that it takes to reach a bigger goal. Small changes at a time creates habits that are more sustainable long term—which is exactly what you want.

Happy Tuesday + go crush the day!
